Production of milk products

Installation of a new steam water heat station for heating system.

(Milk plant)

Description of the problem:

  • Shell-and-tube heat exchangers were used in heating system. Steam feed control was manually performed by gate valve, which led to overconsumption of steam. Besides that manual control resulted in unstable water parameters in heating system.

  • Manual control of steam supply without efficient condensate removal led to heavy hydraulic impacts that quickly laid a heat-transfer device out. So that it wanted to be permanently repaired.
  • Condensate water after heat-transfer device of heating system ran into surface drainage as 10 meters lifting of condensate pipe to a deaerator made impossible to return condensate to the deaerator. Constant losses only of energy of hot condensate figured up to 1,5 Gcal for 24 hours, it is apart from condensate itself and costs for chemical treatment of water.

SpiraxSarco solution:

  • Forward steam to a new heat supply station without drain condensate. For this purpose SpiraxSarco steam separator with block of condensate drain must be set up.
  • Set up a plate exchanger and provide automatic steam PID-control with SpiraxSarco pneumatic control valve.
  • Make possible to drain condensate into deaerator with APT14 SpiraxSarco automatic pump trap which is set up by closed scheme without loss of secondary steam.

Results:

  • Accurate control of water temperature by secondary tuned circuit of heat-transfer device.
  • Resolvent of steam overrun which occurs during manual control of steam supply.
  • Promt condensate return from heat-transfer device to deaeration plant without loss of secondary steam ensured energy cost reduction.
  • Problem solution of hydraulic impact because of inefficient condensate drainage.
  • Using of plate heat exchanger provided reduction of heat exchanger in size and losses in environment were cut.
